Competitions

Singles

There are 7 singles competitions: Under 16’s, Under 25’s, Ladies’, Men’s, Over 60’s Ladies and Over 60’s Men’s and an Open singles (Men & Women). Unusually all these competitions are first to 21 shots, 4 wood games, with the exception of the U25’s and the Open Singles which are the more normal 2 wood game. Age limits are as laid down by the National EBF rules: i.e. under 16 or 25 on the day of the final or over 60 on the 1st May.   


Pairs

There are three pairs competitions: Ladies’, Mens’ and Mixed. All are 2 wood 21 end games.


Triples

Two mixed competitions: 18 ends, 3 wood; and 21 ends, 2 wood.


Shield

All matches are played as 4 rink games, 2 wood 21 ends, with the number of shots only determining the winner,

Culminates on Finals’ Day 11th September.


Monday KO Cup

Sponsored by Greene King BC, this knock-out competition is for teams that take part in the Monday Afternoon League. The rounds for the competition will be played on 17th June and the 8th July. The semi-finals will be arranged after the rounds. The final will take place at St Edmundsbury bowls club on September 11th as part of Finals’ Day.


Agnew

A slightly unusual mixed competition played throughout the season with the final on Finals’ Day. There is one rink of four at home, one rink of four away, 18 ends 2 woods. The team scoring the highest aggregate score going through to the next round.


Victor Ludorum

This trophy is awarded to the club who scores the most points on Finals’ Day:

2 points for a winning team / individual and 1 point for the beaten finalists.


Guinness Cup

By tradition this competition is run by the President Elect and takes place on one day during the season.

All Semi-Finals now have a designated day on which they must be played. The Competition Secretary will allocate a neutral green for these matches. The rules governing these competitions can be found on the Rules & Regulations page.
